Searching for Pulsars with Phase Characteristics

چکیده

We present a method by using the phase characteristics of radio observation data for pulsar search and candidate identification. The are relations between signal correction in frequency-domain, we regard it as new diagnostic characteristic. Based on characteristics, is presented: calculating DM (dispersion measure) -- frequency to select frequencies, then confirming candidates broadband signals. this method, performed test short M15 M71, which were observed Five-hundred-meter Aperture spherical Telescope (FAST), some Galactic Plane Pulsar Snapshot survey (GPPS) data. Results show that can get similar results PRESTO (PulsaR Exploration Search TOolkit) while having faster processing speed.

Searching for Sub - Millisecond Pulsars

Sub-millisecond pulsars should be triaxial (Jacobi ellipsoids), which may not spin down to super-millisecond periods via gravitation wave radiation during their lifetimes if they are extremely low mass bare strange quark stars. It is addressed that the spindown of sub-millisecond pulsars would be torqued dominantly by gravitational wave radiation (with braking index n ≃ 5). The radio luminosity...

Searching for Pulsars in Close Binary Systems

We present a detailed mathematical analysis of the Fourier response of binary pulsar signals whose frequencies are modulated by circular orbital motion. The fluctuation power spectrum of such signals is found to be νorb-periodic over a compact frequency range, where νorb denotes orbital frequency. Subsequently, we consider a wide range of binary systems with circular orbits and short orbital pe...

Searching for gravitational waves from known pulsars

We present upper limits on the amplitude of gravitational waves from 28 isolated pulsars using data from the second science run of LIGO. The results are also expressed as a constraint on the pulsars’ equatorial ellipticities. We discuss a new way of presenting such ellipticity upper limits that takes account of the uncertainties of the pulsar moment of inertia. We also extend our previous metho...

Twenty Years of Searching for (and Finding) Globular Cluster Pulsars

Globular clusters produce orders of magnitude more millisecond pulsars per unit mass than the Galactic disk. Since the first cluster pulsar was uncovered twenty years ago, at least 138 have been identified – most of which are binary millisecond pulsars. Because of their origins involving stellar encounters, many of these systems are exotic objects that would never be observed in the Galactic di...

Searching for sub-millisecond pulsars from highly polarized radio sources

Pulsars are among the most highly polarized sources in the universe. The NVSS has catalogued 2 million radio sources with linear polarization measurements, from which we have selected 253 sources, with polarization percentage greater than 25%, as targets for pulsar searches. We believe that such a sample is not biased by selection effects against ultra-short spin or orbit periods. Using the Par...
